HOUDINI4SOFTIES: “Rigging a Cable Carrier in XSI and in H"

Post by owei » 20 Aug 2017, 21:02

Hi there,
this is a little walk trough of a setup I´ve build for a visualization project both in XSI and in Houdini using more a similar approach and more or less similar tools. Any comments and questions are welcome.

If you have any suggestions for some further walk trough videos or tutorials, maybe this can get also a little series of videos more or less XSI to Houdini specific stuff.

Files can be found below ;)

Cheers,
oli

Nice one! :)

Always interesting to see how certain techniques can be translated to another 3d package.

cheers!

Dunno about you, but 2 minutes vs 10 min, XSI vs Houdini was terrifying.

But I loved the tutorial nonetheless. Thanks! Please do more!

Hey Draise,
sure, in a way, but it is a bit unfair to campare time directly, because I did not in depth explain what the compounds do and how they work in the XSI setup. Setting up both is fast, if you know what you have to do. :D
And yes, I will try to do some more..any ideas around?

Cheers,
Oli

Hey owei,

great tutorial and setup. i have two suggestion for houdini setups. they are both super easy to achieve in xsi. I would like to see your approach in houdini. the one is two directional constraints like in the piston. the other is cluster constraint to point. and here it's important to me that you can move the object that contains the constrained cluster, but that the cluster stays at the location of the constrainer (the null)
