Maxon is developing a Substance Designer Plugin

Post by MauricioPC » 01 Mar 2015, 11:42

Got this from their press release on what will be shown at GDC. I'm guessing Maxon is eager to expand their toolset to games and VFX now (Houdini Engine, Arnold, Substance). There's a niche of people tired of Autodesk that Modo hasn't full-filled.
MAXON will also be showing a technology preview of a new plugin in development that provides integration with Allegorithmic Substance Designer, the leading procedural texturing technology, directly inside Cinema 4D. This functionality will give Cinema 4D users access to a wide range of Substance files to download, and also provides greater flexibility for the adjustment of textures for streamlined content creation. MAXON team members will be showcasing this new integration in development during GDC at the Allegorithmic booth (# 212).

If they really want to fill that specific niche, they do not have to innovate IMHO,
as the toolset they offer is solid, they "just" have to drop their prices significantly.
That will make users flock to Cinema 4D. Again IMHO.
;)
Stay safe, sane & healthy!

Well, that's why I'm taking another look at Modo. :)
