hello
i could imagine that this has been asked several times before. despite of this, i'm going to ask again
IS IT POSSIBLE TO CHANGE THE DISPLAY ICON OF A MODEL???
like we can do with nulls! why is that such an issue?

Re: Change Model Icon Display
Models are not nulls and should not be manipulated like nulls are. Models are for name spaces and that is it. You should not move them from zero, it's bad practice. I personally wish they came into the scene with no transforms available and the object with no icon that could be selected.
Leave them at zero and hide them and lock / hide their transforms. ICE deformations and simulations could get wonky otherwise if the ICE Ops aren't taking into account the model transforms which most of the time it is not.
If you need a control to move the object, create a control object (null or nurbs curve).
