animation editor slow update
Re: animation editor slow update
Maybe.. posting the scene with some terms and conditions so one of us can test it for you might help? Maybe it won't happen on this machine, maybe it will give some clues... ??
Re: animation editor slow update
I prefer not to post the scene.

Re: animation editor slow update
I'm getting same issue especially with gear.
right now I'm exporting bunch of animated animals into Unity, shadow rig plotted, and ten going over each of them in scene to simplify curve and export to Unity.
It is painfully slow!!!
Like middle select shadow rig it takes 10-15 sec to refresh at all, even with animation editor closed, with it opened even worse. That plotting and exporting is taking me a lot of time right now.
sys:
i7 3930k OC @4.4Ghz
32gb ram
4x EVGA Titan superclocked, SLI off ofc...
But it should work like a charm... But manipulating a lot of curves at one time is bringing SI to knees.

Re: animation editor slow update
here is a screenshot
the scene is working fine
i can animate whatever i want and move keys around and everything is great
BUT
when i want to switch from stepped keys to splines or vice versa OR when i select muliple keys and add a value in the key value tab and press enter, softimage freezes up for like 15-30 minutes and then gives me the result....
why so slow? is it because of my quadro fx 3800 (1GB dedicated)?

Re: animation editor slow update
i actually found a work around.
instead of selecting the keys in the graph editor and going curves>spline or curves>constant
if you ctrl+Left arrow or ctrl+Right arrow you jump from key to key.
so i just set the interpolation for inserted keys to spline or constant (in preferences, animation) and manually re key all my keys.

I suspect a rig (gear?!) related problem..
I got a scene with a gear-rigged character, very light scene, just the character, and I get exactly the same extra slow update in the AE.
I got a different gear rigged character, of the same complexity, and everything there works great, and fast.
even selecting one keyframe and changing it to auto slope, takes 10-20 seconds..
it's terrible!
hopefully the problem would be solved..
