Edge Length ->Set Data trouble

Hello. I'm trying to get edge length from the grid. As I understand it is scalar value? So why I can not to plug it into set data port to a custom variable? The node becomes red.

This is in an ICETree on the grid? Works for me.

If you previously set the attribute with a different data type, then you would get this when you try to plug a scalar into the attribute.
