exocortex and Autodesk

Post by Werner » 10 Jun 2009, 18:20

Does anyone know if Exocortex is still developing a fluid system for Softimage? I was really happy to learn that they became partners with Softimage before the acquisition, and since Autodesk took over, nothing new has surfaced. These guys do some amazing stuff, and it would be horrible if this fell through.
Any news on this?

I'm afraid, the next thing you're likely to hear from it will be at the announcement of some future Softimage-product. Autodesk seems to have very strict policies concerning stuff that's actively being developed. ;)

Where did you get that info from?
And this concerns the "SlipstreamRT" product as shown by Thiago Costa?
Or do they plan to release the fabled "SlipstreamFX" package as well?

Personally, I doubt it...
The dates they mention on the website haven't changed:
SlipstreamVX will be available 1st Quarter 2010
It is expected that the beta will end prior to April 2010.
And both "deadlines" seem to have passed already... ;)

that's basically the mail i got from keith taylor (exocortex)
Our SlipstreamVX plugin for Autodesk Softimage is just completing beta testing and should be available for purchase of subscription the 2nd week of May. This is a re-packaged version of SlipstreamRT from last year. A description can be found here http://www.exocortex.com/simulation.aspx and licensing information can be found here http://www.exocortex.com/simulation/licensing.aspx

SlipstreamFX our high quality adaptive tetrahedral simulator for non real time fluids including liquids has not yet been released but is described on the link above.

Our SlipstreamRT is being re-developed and re-packaged to target game engine companies but has not been formally released yet.
The beta program is going very well. I will let you know when it is released.

Okay, I stand corrected, although THAT information isn't on their website yet, as far as I can tell... ;)
