Linux problem UNC path when mi2 created on Windows

Post by klipi » 28 Feb 2010, 22:14

My problem is more OS oriented:
Im trying to render file "house.mi2" on F11 using ray3.
"house.mi2" file was created on Windows machine and textures are embeded.
While trying to render on F11 using ray3 everything goes OK but output
image file is not written on disk (file server)
I think this is because in "house.mi2" file output folder is set to:
\\Servername\e\xsiprojectname\Render_Picture\house.tga

and in F11 path to that location looks like this:
smb://Servername/e/xsiprojectname\Render_Picture\house.tga

Im rendering in console using this command:
./ray3 -v -file_dir /home/klipi/MIcontainer/ /home/klipi/MIcontainer/house.mi2

Can anyone help regarding this problem or suggest me workflow where
I want to work on windows machine and use linux for ray3 rendering.

Thanks.

Isn't this just a case of setting up a correct linktab.ini on both machine and setting the MR environment variable "SI_LOCATION" in "Mental Ray" on your Linux-box to point to its linktab.ini-file?

(But if truth were told: this is mere guesswork based on the manuals: I don't have any experience with Linux :- )
Stay safe, sane & healthy!
