hi again,
i am trying to change the aspect of the particles coming from an alembic file, which are actually the same "slam" yellow of the traditional particles, someone know how to change theyre look? i know how to to it with ice particles, but not with Alembic particles, anyone?
thank you
alembic particle color!!
Re: alembic particle color!!
Softimage doesn't know about what is in a Stadin.
To go around this you could store an attribute a.e. called colorScalar with a scalar value between 0 and 1.
Then as soon as you load the alembic you could use this scalar value in your rendertree to feed a gradient.
Don't forget to add an ice tree on the standin and just throw in a set.data(colorScalar). It doesnt need to be connected, but this seems to be the only way so Softimage knows about this attribute and you can use it in the rendertree.

Sorry Helli
would you mind explain a bit further where to create the attribute?
thanks

Re: alembic particle color!!
What happens if you add an ice tree on the alembic object and a.e. get an attribute like color and set it then. get.data(color)-->set.data(color)
Can you then use the color attribute in the rendertree a.e. ?
