Softimage 2015 - Fedora 21 - Unable to run

Hi.

New to Linux and trying to install and run Softimage 2015 ... Got it installed but slightly stuck on how to actually run the software (slightly embarassing I know !!!!)

Anyway, when I run XSI from inside the /bin/ folder, I get this error :

/usr/Softimage/Softimage_2015/Application/bin/XSI.bin: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib64/libXext.so.6: undefined symbol: _XGetRequest

Any one know what might be the problem ? Really want to keep using XSI rather than migrate to Houdini !

i am struggling to make Softimage work in Fedora 18. I remember seeing some errors in the install log too. But i dont have it underhands right now.

here's the error i get when i try to launch XSI
if any of you could help me out, it would be greatly appreciated.

Fortunately the solution to your problem is fairly simple:

mv
/usr/Softimage/Softimage_2014_SP2/Application/mainwin/mw/lib-amd64_linux/X11/libX11.so.6
/usr/Softimage/Softimage_2014_SP2/Application/mainwin/mw/lib-amd64_linux/X11/~libX11.so.6

Each flavor seem to have particular needs, but this also seemed to have helped others:

xsisupport.com -- Running Softimage on other distros like Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Pardus, and Gentoo
(Perhaps Stephen could add the previous to that linux install help page?)

Trying to get Softimage to run on my macbook pro using fedora 14. we
install all of our machines at the office the same way, but it doesn't
seem to work on my laptop.

Check your /etc/hosts file. I was getting that error when installing on FC15 and it turned out that it was somehow wrong formated (my actual hostname didn't show up there).
