pointcloud meshing trouble

Post by kissb » 19 Jan 2020, 00:42

Hi all,

I was wondering if I'm missing something obvious regarding the subject. My goal is to mesh a pointcloud in a way, that each point becomes a vertex, and the closest points are connected, like an icosahedron.

Turns out it's not as easy (for me) as I thought. Isn't there an option in topolizer or somewhere, where I forgot to look?

cheers,
b

You'll find some items when you search for convex hull in the resources, but that's only for the points on the outside of your point cloud. Haven't seen an algorithm yet that connects every point with a mesh.
You could repeat the convex hull process, remove the points used, then continue building convex hulls on the remaining points but then you get several meshes of course

Thanks a lot, it sounds like a good start, I'll look into it.
