Meh, nice try and thus commendable, but not really worth it in the end, I'm afraid...
Tragically a good documentary about the rise and fall of Softimage is still missing...

Second doc on Softimage on youtube where they say Softimage was "passed to various owners around like a hot potatoe", imho an exaggeration, given that Avid owned it for 10 years.
but this one is pretty well-made.

I enjoyed sharing links to that Softimage video. Although it has no reference to Softimage, here is in exchange another cool video I found, about the history SGI
"Flame" is technically Softimage's cousin (founders of Discreet were Softimage co-founders, and both were in Montreal)

Useful Information
Re: YouTube: The Complicated Story of Softimage
there's an earlier video:
rumor had it that Avid was going to sell Softimage to Dassault Systeme (the aerospace company that also owned CATIA and Solidworks), and that a deal had all but been completed, and that some people from Autodesk had somehow bribed the shareholders of Avid to sell to them, instead...
it's just a rumor.
what isn't a rumor, is Autodesk's purchase of Softimage being illegal, given anti-competive practice laws...
