Softimage Classroom Training

Post by pluMmet » 05 Apr 2011, 11:06

I posted this on CGtalk and got no response after a week so i thought I would try here.

I'm wondering if anyone here has been to a Softimage specific training class.

Here are a couple that I found
http://www.centrenad.com/en/pro/autodesk/soft101
http://www.academyclass.com/training/Au ... ing-course

Can someone recommend anything like these as good classes?

Hi,

Your first link works, but your second is broken.

As for the content though, that is the first time I have seen that myself, so thanks for posting.

I really cannot say how the online training will be, as I went to a college where they taught Max - I learned Softimage by myself shortly thereafter. I know some colleges offer their courses in Softimage - I think there is Flash Point in Chicago http://flashpointacademy.com/

However, my advice is that if you are going to poor money into something - if you are in the States - is to check to see if the place you want to attend is Accredited.

Thanks Rez007 for replying...I fixed the link.

It's not online training though, it's classroom training that I want. The classes seem to last about 1 to 2 weeks and I'm willing to fly to where ever as long as it's a good class.

Oh ok,

My mistake, I thought you were interested in online classes. As for a physical experience, I really can't comment on what may be "good" or not, especially for the length of the class, as that is somewhat based on personal opinion. If you are looking for software specific training then it might also be good to look at some videos to see what you like.

There are also some free tutorials online that are quite good as well. Best of luck to you, but keep in mind, learning the fundamentals is always a good choice versus just learning a specific software - software comes and goes and changes all of the time.

Well I already know 3ds Max fairly well (I've been using it for 10 years.) I'd like to switch over to SI and I learn better when I can ask questions.

Thanks for the input.

You are definitely right. My mistake on the assumption that you were starting out in the industry, I didn't realize you had 10yrs with Max already....that kind of changes most things that I said then. Good luck in finding what you are looking for, and this site is a great place to help in that too.
