Softimage 2012 released (!)

Post by Hirazi Blue » 07 Apr 2011, 10:13

I can't guarantee this is the same for everyone,
due to the way the Subscription Center works,
but it seems Softimage 2012 has arrived...

edit: the online documentation for 2012 does, however, not seem to have been released yet:

I'll probably wait until my boxed version arrives (and the docs are available - as a download as well),
but I felt obliged (as a news service) to point this out to all of you... ;)

It anticipated the release date?
I'm (obviously) curios, especially about rendering (on previous small but annoying bugs), and of course about ICE modelling.

So far, it's interesting. I'm doing rendering tests right now.

I even made my first ICE modeling compound. Most of it is over my head but I did figure out how to make an interactive duplicate tool :)

I guess we'll have to wait for the real pros to make some very cool modeling tools.

Other than that, not much different.

I have had trouble with my Enhance XSI presets (materials). The just don't show up at all.

Now that the documentation has gone online as scheduled, I was wondering where & when I could download it for use on my offline computer?

edit: the documentation itself mentions a link (http://www.autodesk.com/softimage-helpdownload-enu) but so far that only points you to the page itself (the link isn't working properly), while copying the text of the link into a new browser windows get you to the not yet updated documentation page @ the SI-WIKI.

belated edit: the download version of the documentation is available now at
http://www.autodesk.com/softimage-helpdownload-enu,
although the link mentioned in the online docs still doesn't work...

- Added a compression slider for .jpg in Viewport Capture. Also set default JPG quality to 100%

try to check the path of the presets, since it might be the cause, also check if in the plugin manager they show up!

Yeah, I´d like to know that one too... the last fix didn´t fix that at all.

I believe its fixed-but it cannot do the reconnections for you. You'll have to do that part. It just keeps the disconnections from happening from now on.

For clarity's sake (I hope) I've moved the "unified sampling" posts to their own thread called unified sampling 2012 ;)

That´s what they said for Hotfix 2 too. I believed it and lost hours of work so I´m still sceptic quite a bit ...

There are some steps to follow, after implementing the hotfix and opening a scene.
If the scene has been bitten by the bug, the corruption is fixed, but nodes aren't reconnected.

Go to the SI wiki, there's a page on the necessary steps on what to do. It also involves restarting Si and such.

But I agree it's a pain in the behind and a workflow menace..... :((
