change Lagoa Particles Shape
change Lagoa Particles Shape
hi there.
i´m new to SI and new in this forum.
i did a search for this topic, there was a similar before but sadly no answers.
anyway.
how can i change my particles-shape in lagoa (i.e. use a different shape instead of the default spheres)?
thanks in advance.

Re: change Lagoa Particles Shape
you just need to set "self.shape".
it's still ICE. that didn't change for Lagoa...

Re: change Lagoa Particles Shape
sorry to hijack the thread, but i dont want to spam forum opening another one for kinda a similar question..
I would like to understand if there is a way to make an object full using lagoa simulation..its kinda hard to explain..
For example in the video Mark Schoennagel showed in GDC where it show us the arnold power, he uses a simulation that involves a Cup.
Now i've noticed that most of the animations and simulations done with Lagoa are just made of little spheres and cubes or whatever, like the one Mark showed...
My question is, how you transfer the whole simulation to the real Cup? If i have a shaded model i want to break or become the same structure Mark showed how i would do that?
Because in my understanding using the instance shape will make particles turns into that shape, wich will mean having 8 milions of those shape, i want to have just 1 shape, wich is my object, the simulation of Lagoa must alter my object mesh..
Is this possible? i have no idea how to explain me better..
I just dont understand how Lagoa works if its only a simulation framework or not, i cannot bring the simulation to real objects if not using those annoying spheres, boxes and whatever..
i really dont get it..
Thanks

Re: change Lagoa Particles Shape
because it's made for granular like materials, think a can filled with express coffee, sand or whatever.
Re: change Lagoa Particles Shape
i would also be very interested in that, too, since i didn´t understood how to achieve this neither yet.
and to be honest, i don´t really understand your answer, Origin (like i said, i am absolutely new to SI and ICE, so blame it on me...)
by the way, Mark´s video´s mentioned before can also be seen here:

the question is: how does he "shape" the cup with the little tiny cubes?

Re: change Lagoa Particles Shape
i think he meant that Lagoa is used for granular/liquid stuff, hence only polygonized meshes work, dust, jelly, granular materials, so no, you cant "shape" that cup unless you use emPolygonizer but it'll always be blobby, or liquid-made, or made by instances, thats it.

Most likely, this is a volume emission, so he doesn't shape the cup, he emits from the cup.;nautilus wrote:the question is: how does he "shape" the cup with the little tiny cubes?
