Hi,
i have a ICE-particle simulation and I want these particles to behave as rigid-bodies for some time and then go back to normal simulation.
How would i set this up?
I tried a new state (i'm using the state-machine for different stages of the simulation) with simulate-rigid-bodies plugged in, but as soon as i do that SI freezes or is calculating forever.
Do i need a separate ICE-tree or even pointcloud for that?
Any suggestions are welcome...
Thanks,
Thomas

Re: blend between rigid and non-rigid simulation
Not sure, but in a simple setup I tried here, using an IF node and a condition to switch between true and false seems to work... (the operative word being SEEMS!)

If you expand state compound you will see that is has simulate particles node build in, so be aware of that

Thanks for the answers!
I just tried:
IF StateID == 3 -> use rigid-bodies simulation, else normal
and the other approach after reading origin's post:
in the State3-compound substitute Simulate Particles with simulate rigid-bodies-particles
Both seem to work as long as I have about 100 Particles... above that it gets real slow till nothing happens at all.
I guess I have to rebuild my tree to get rid of the State machine, use rigid-bodies all the time and only enable collision when i need it.
cheers!
