If you are referring to 2014 Offline documentation, it works as shown.

There was a small glitch in the online docs, but the SI team quickly fixed it.
As discussed on the softimage mailinglist.

So.... nothing to see here, move along.... ;)

Not so fast: Falam was talking about the OFFLINE docs, not the ONLINE docs. To dismiss this query because the ONLINE docs have been fixed recently would seem a bit strange (especially as the OFFLINE docs download predates the ONLINE fix AFAIK)...

@Falam - Could it be that "Javascript" somehow got disabled
in the browser you use for viewing the offline docs?

Falam,

Did it work before? Or did you download the files recently and just now discovered it doesn't work properly?

I can't speak for past experience with it, I can only speak for present and it's not working, the index, or search don't do anything.

Did you try a different browser?
For example SwIron -search does nothing, with Firefox it works.

I use Chrome, and that is the only browser installed on the computer. I don't want to switch browsers. I assume this is an issue with Chrome, <sigh> browsers :(

Yeah, the offline docs don't work in Chrome. That's a known issue -- something to do with Chrome blocking cross-frame scripts I believe.

I found the solution, I run everything within a standard account in Windows. The search within the documentation won't work under 'standard' account, the documentation search works under administrator account. Now to find what is being blocked under standard account.

If you are using Windows, you have other option which is iexplorer. Just type iexplore in the Windows Run.

The screenshot captured shows an offline version of the documentation.

I remember seeing this bug logged, then ignored by the documentation team. the help probably write a search index in its directory, so if you don't drop the help in Program File, but instead in a writable location, it's probably fine

I was wrong, in my previous post the search did not work when logged into a Administrator account within Chrome. This stinks, I prefer the way Chrome searches. Over the weekend I had to switch from Chrome back to IE. If there is any way I can switch back to Chrome once again, I would appreciate it, there are few things in Chrome that are helpful in day to day use over IE.
