Hi guys,
We need some inputs from everyone. Please fill up the survey below:
https://customer.voice.autodesk.com/se. ... DC304DCD63
The reason for this survey is to access the impact of dropping official support for Fedora 14.
If we do drop support, we intend to continue running automated sanity checks on Fedora 14 for a while longer.
The officially supported Linux distributions for 2015 is expected to be RedHat/CentOS 6.2.
Please do so by the end of August. Thanks.
Regards,
The Softimage Team

Re: Softimage 2015 User Survey - Linux question only
Not a Linux user myself, but from what I read, an important issue to adress.
Hope Windows users can expect such an early warning, next time AD drops support to one of their versions.
But all in all: Strangely comforting to see Chris Chia mention Softimage 2015.

I hoping for something more than just a bugfix
Re: Softimage 2015 User Survey - Linux question only
I'm hoping on some nasty bugs/annoyances fixed, and some more new features than last time ;-)

Re: Softimage 2015 User Survey - Linux question only
Nope, it will at least have one actual new feature: improved Linux support...
And I have no doubt the people behind SP2 will have some more requests as well!

Re: Softimage 2015 User Survey - Linux question only
hmm was that it ? ... BUT it's so good to see Autodesk working so hard to find what it's users want
Since the 2013 and 2014 releases were so full of Autodesk Features and Value it's hard to think of anything other then Linux support softimage users may desire.....????
so Glad I told my procurement department to cancelled ALL autodesk Subscriptions and purchased modo and C4D licenses for the transition over the coming years.
it is a amazingly DUMB question tho
Where would the best place for softimage market should grow in ( answer Major studio's )
What OS do those major studio's mainly uses ( answer most have or are moving to linux )
What OS option will be dropped in the next Softimage update ( autodesk answer LINUX !!! )
let's give a award to the STUPID people at Autodesk who have are favour 3d tool's future in there hands

This survey is to check with users which older version of Linux (softimage supports obsolete linux distros nobody actually use) so they can provide better support for newer ones, as requested by the Softimage studios. the linux studios do not need the help you think you're giving, they can handle themselves just fine.
