Hi.
I wonder if it's a bug in 2015 or some new preference, because in XSI 2014 it works perfectly, as expected.
Problem:
I cannot see the reflection on an object, in the alpha channel, with environment on. It's like the object doesn't see the environment.
- Softimage 2015 Sp1
- Get a Sphere.
- Put a material, even a simple one like Phong, for example.
- Get the reflection and transparency colors to white.
- Get the Reflection Mode to "Environment Only"
- Edit Pass and add an environment, with any texture and put down the "background" parameter to hide the environment image.
- Now Open Render Region and set it to ALPHA.
- If everything work the sphere should be transparent with only reflections on it.
- If not working, it's totally transparent (black)
Is it a bug or some "new" tweak in 2015?
I attached an image to show the difference.
Reflections and Alpha Channel.
Re: Reflections and Alpha Channel.
With your setup I assume the correct behavior would be in SI 2015. By default alpha channel store only objects shape.
Unless you want that reflections (raytrace and/or environment) appears in the alpha. Then put attention in A value from RGBA slider in material.
Other setup can be use StoreInChannel to put any shading parameter to channel.
