si-community - work in progress

Post by Hirazi Blue » 09 May 2010, 09:55

In the next couple of days I'll be attempting to implement some minor changes to the templates that drive the look of this community. As I am new at this some hiccups will inevitably occur (and some already have X( )

Hoping this will not damage your user experience in any irreparable way,
I'll try my best to keep your frustration (not mine!!! :D) to a minimum...

In short: sorry for the inconvenience and thanks in advance for understanding :-

I could use some user input right about now
But this only applies to the "subsilver2" style
This is the way our links are denoted at the moment...
Personally I find this almost indistinguishable from the normal text, making it not very obvious where one should click...
So I want to change the link color.
This would become the way our links are denoted, which by the way is rgb(255,64,64) or hex "#ff4040"
And while it obviously clashes with the rest of the color scheme (but that's the whole point), do you think this would work or could one of you artists (which I most definitively am not) come up with a reasonable alternative, that stands out while still fitting into the general color scheme of "subsilver2"?

Thanks in advance... :-bd

That red color buzzes when laid over the mid tone grey of the tables of the site. I'd say something more orangie or yellow.

Thanks, I was afraid of something like that...
Although, as a Dutchman, I tend to shy away from all things "orange" :D

Huh? :-\
Could you please clarify?

Just for those who really, really did not notice: :-??

The story so far:

Code: Select all

- new gallery
- orange links in "subsilver2"
- new "vim" tag, replacing the old "vimeo" tag
- disabled automatic link parsing
i-)

Any serious issues with "subsilver_black"?
I don't use it myself, so I need any input I can get... :ymhug:

I´m always on "subsilver"
To clarify the link was still displayed blue.

But now after I went to the board prefs switched to "black" and back to subsilver it shows now correct in orange. :)
So seems like a small update problem on my site. :)

was just funny seeing your post
"Orange it is:"
and underneath it a blue link :)

so i thought you may had the wrong color code
damn joke didn't work :p

I've just removed "disable automatic link parsing" from my "to do" list :-

After implementing a few changes in the last couple of weeks, I have now almost completed my "to do" list. The only thing I want to attempt in the near future is setting a new text for the notification mails the user gets when a reply has been posted (I want to include the name of the user who posted the reply somehow).
But my question to you all is: what (preferably minor :ympray: ) changes would make this board even better?

well, since your messing with it, it'd be nice to be able to read the post or at least part of it if its too big or uses pictures, that triggered the email. and maybe some indication of the topics with new posts (like in the "view new posts" page), to keep the people active.

Showing the message body should be doable... :-?
(Although this probably would mean installing some kind of phpbb-Mod,
which I'd have to clear with our "fearless leader" first :D )
Giving an update in the notification mail sounds like a lot of work...
But if I can find a Mod for that also, it might be an idea...
