Hi All
I just started a render.
I am rendering Stereo VR so have a high resolution and many frames
I am mainly an animator so never rendered so much in Xsi.
So it is a newb question.
I am just rendering some icons moving on a big image of
6144x3072 that needs to be keyed on original material.
the rendering of all the black empty area in my images takes a very long time.
I remeber that there was a setting that you could make so XSI did not calculate just black empty
I am just rendering in scanlines and turned down Aliasing down -1 1 5, even tried to minimum -3 0 1
what am I forgetting?

Re: Rendering just black takes a long time
every scene is different, only a clue, "black" not necessary truly "empty"
"truly empty area" should pretty fast.
or try to crop the render window as a workaround ?

Hi opoppopopp
Thx alot for fast reply
it truely is empty
Just curves and faces, with a blue texture
so Imagine that it is just because a very high resolution
Thx alot for showing me the crop
seems very useful
But the crop that you showed me
Is not the same as this one?

Re: Rendering just black takes a long time
also an "render selection only" at the bottom in the same property page, in my screenshot
BTW. for your scene, seems manually set the crop area is enough.

Re: Rendering just black takes a long time
Still takes a long time - Crop is helps alot - halfs the render time, but not optimal
still chooses half the screen to render, maybe because of a Lens Shader, Panoramic
I only have those blue thumbs up in scene and rest is empty

- try make your object smaller, since "crop and render only selection" takes object bounding box I think.
- try click "Optimize" under Optimisation tab, It optimize each of your tile size etc. hence for heavy scenes it is speed up by reduce overhead(higher overall CPU utilization, basically). as shown in the follow pic
