EOL SI-COMMUNITY 2024
Re: EOL SI-COMMUNITY 2024
Good news, forum and resource section will both remain online. It's possible there might be a handover of the forum's web server some time later this year, but nothing's set in stone yet. In any case, everything would remain online even then.

Stay safe, sane & healthy!
Re: EOL SI-COMMUNITY 2024
Awesome, thank you for the update and all your efforts 🥳👏
Re: EOL SI-COMMUNITY 2024
I'm sure I'm only but one person out of many who's happy about this news!
The following is a quite recent video from an Italian Houdini artist, talking about Softimage, ICE, and social media,
and making neutral comparisons (pros and cons) with Houdini,
seemingly intended for "Laymen" who wonder what's the point of XSI, and what happened to it.
I referenced the video starting when he talks about this forum
( after the EOL talk )
Nevertheless, thanks for the efforts & cheers !

The video was recorded before the communication continued... I should do a new video to explain my happiness and maybe with more nice stuffFXDude wrote: ↑05 Jan 2024, 16:10 I'm sure I'm only but one person out of many who's happy about this news!

Thanks cause it was very satisfying to hear all that !
You mentionned being "naustalgic",
I'm sure there must be some of that for anyone still using it,
but for me, no doubt others too, naustalgia is only part of it :
For instance, today Maya has Bifrost, Blender has Geometry nodes,
even Lightwave now also has Geometry nodes ...
... but .... lets just say ICE really "Nailed-it"
While SOO many aspects of XSI did they arguably "do things right" from the start.
So lets just say say that it's not just Lightwave that would need "Resurrection from the dead"
"Live long & prosper"
.

ok, I understand it... and I should record a new video today with more positive aspects.
On ICE... for me, it's a very powerful system and different compared to other applications (like Houdini with VOP, but Houdini it's very different to all software... Bifrost is a copy but not the same thing, geometry node in Blender, etc... etc... and if you think was realed in ).
by the way... I came back on XSI this time and I want to continue to use also for my production if I can

Re: EOL SI-COMMUNITY 2024
Hi !
here are follow-up videos from "Matevil"
released post-cancelation of the Forum EOL, befoire talking about just that ( good news ! )
aaand before making an neat overview / tutorial about ICE particles basics.
( good reminder of basics, today only reproduce-able in Houdini, or maybe Bifrost, but integrated in an "easy to use Maya" )
Nice to see & Cheers !
